I feel like all of the vendors are proponents of this mentality where people just jump in right away because its what everyone else is doing. Vendors are like HEY OUR PRODUCT IS AMAZING AND RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX WILL FIX ALL YOUR DATA PROBLEMS!!! And without proper caution, all they do is create more

Yeah, you really have to think about integration, change management and self-reliance before you buy a tool. Data investment needs to consider this by evaluating not only the data implications but the business processes and people that need to be involved. My next article on data investment and value will get into that!
